Lamar Bank and Trust Company (LBT) today announced that Jill Fast, one of its most beloved and longest-tenured employees, will retire at the end of March after 46 years of serving customers.

A friendly, familiar face to generations of LBT customers, Fast started working at the bank in 1978 as a bookkeeper and soon became a teller. After serving in the loan department and as a new account representative, Fast has spent the last 40 years working in the bank’s customer service department.

During her time at LBT, Fast helped the bank grow its numerous programs for the Barton County community, including the bank’s Travel Club she oversaw for decades.
“My favorite part about working at LBT is the people,” she said. “I have become very close with my customers and co-workers, and there are so many friends I would have never crossed paths with if not for working at LBT. Now that I’m retiring, I plan on helping my husband Gary on the farm, working in my yard, traveling and spending more time with my grandson Bentley.”

LBT President and CEO Pat O’Neal is quick to point out just how much Fast will be missed by her co-workers and customers.

“It’s not every day you say goodbye and thank you to an employee with 46 years of tenure,” he said. “Jill has been a constant here for nearly half of our 100 years of existence. Her knowledge and relationships with our customers will be missed. We wish her a long and healthy retirement as a full-time grandma and farm hand for Gary.”
As Lamar Bank and Trust Company celebrates its 100th anniversary of service to the Barton County community this year, the bank remains steadfast in its mission to provide personalized financial services and support for individuals and businesses across the region.
